Burgundy Red or White Wine

Burgundy wine is renowned for its quality and finesse. They are also remarkable for the structure of their vineyards.

Emblematic of single-varietal wine, Burgundy Chardonnay and Burgundy Aligoté for whites, primarily Pinot Noir and to a lesser extent Gamay for reds, Burgundy wines are an expression of their terroir. From the diversity of geology to climatology, through the work of the viticulturist on the vine, during vinification and aging.

The classification of wines is also unique to the Burgundy vineyard, from Grand Cru to regional appellation, including Premier Cru and village appellation.

These characteristics are valid from the Mâconnais to the Chablis wines, through the Côte Chalonnaise, the Côte de Beaune, and the Côte de Nuits.

Thus, Burgundy wine always reflects its terroir, the result of historical work on climates, now classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The aromatic palette varies depending on the appellations. Burgundy white wine is often characterized by floral and white fruit notes, as well as minerality and notes of viennoiseries. Burgundy red wine is often characterized by red and black fruit notes and delicately affirmed tannins. In all cases, Burgundy wines are fine and elegant, perfect for accompanying meals with the finest dishes or simply to be savored alone as an aperitif. Whether you choose a Burgundy Grand Cru or a village appellation, you are assured to discover a world of unique flavors. So don't wait any longer to taste the best Burgundy wines selected by Maison Benoit Chapelle!

Among Our Selection of Burgundy Wines

- Côte de Beaune Wine

The Côte de Beaune is one of the gems of the Burgundy vineyard. Each village along the Côte de Beaune produces Burgundy white and/or red wines depending on the terroir's specificities. In particular, Côte de Beaune white wine is recognized as some of the best in the world.

For Burgundy white wines, it is notably the villages of Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet, Meursault, Saint-Aubin, Saint Romain, and Auxey-Duresses where the Chardonnay grape thrives predominantly.

For Burgundy red wines, the villages of Pommard, Volnay, Monthelie, Santenay, Aloxe Corton, Pernand-Vergelesses, Savigny Les Beaune, Ladoix, Chorey Les Beaune, the various villages of the Maranges, as well as Beaune, have a terroir where Pinot Noir is predominant and fully expressed.

Of course, we must not forget the Côtes de Beaune-Villages appellation and Côtes de Beaune villages, as well as the regional appellations Burgundy, Burgundy Côte d’Or, and Burgundy Hautes Côtes de Beaune, which often offer more accessible wines but always in the expression of the terroir.

Burgundy wine produced in this part of the Burgundy vineyard is recognized for its complexity and finesse. Whether you're looking for a bottle to enjoy with friends or to accompany your meal with successful food and wine pairings, a Côte de Beaune Burgundy wine selected by Maison Benoit Chapelle will always be an excellent choice!

- Côte de Nuits Wine

Côte de Nuits wine is a Burgundy wine produced in the neighboring wine region of the Côte de Beaune. The Côte de Nuits vineyard is located to the north of the Côte de Beaune.

While white wine and Chardonnay are present, the Côte de Nuits is the kingdom of Pinot Noir.

The boundary of the Côte de Nuits begins after Ladoix, then stretches through Nuits-Saint-Georges, passing through Vosne-Romanée, Vougeot, then Chambolle-Musigny, Morey-Saint-Denis, and Gevrey-Chambertin, in the area most dense with Grand Cru, primarily reds. Finally, the coast ends by passing through Fixin and Marsannay to reach Dijon.

Emblematic for its famous Burgundy Grand Crus such as Charmes-Chambertin, Mazis-Chambertin, Clos de la Roche, Clos de Vougeot, Richebourg, the Côte de Nuits is also the vineyard for producing Côtes de Nuits-Villages and the regional appellations Burgundy, Burgundy Côte d’Or, and Burgundy Hautes Côtes de Nuits.

While it's difficult to generalize, Côtes de Nuits red wine offers intense notes of red fruits and spices, as well as round and silky tannins that make it a complex and elegant Burgundy wine. In terms of food and wine pairings, these characteristics make Côte de Nuits wine one of the best choices to accompany red meat, game, or spicy dishes. Discover why wine enthusiasts around the world have come to appreciate Burgundy Côte de Nuits wine by ordering from Maison Benoit Chapelle's selection!

Among Our Wines

- Domaine Parent Wine

The Domaine Parent is located in the heart of the village of Pommard. A family-owned estate for 12 generations, Domaine Parent primarily produces Pommard Premier Cru appellation, but also Monthelie, Aloxe Corton, and Burgundy Côte d’Or, among others.

Wines are vinified by Anne Parent and the Domaine has been managed biodynamically for many years, beyond trends.

These exceptional wines are achieved through a work that combines experience, knowledge, and listening to nature, making each vintage a reflection of its terroir, with each plot being different in terms of geology, climatology, and exposure. Domaine Parent wine is aged in oak barrels, taking the necessary time to obtain the best product, but especially by adapting to the uniqueness of each vintage.

- Pommard Wine: Pommard Appellation

The village of Pommard is the first south of Beaune on the so-called "route of Grand Crus" wine road. The Pommard Wine appellation is historically among the first controlled origin appellations in France (AOC, 1936), and includes only Pommard red wine.

The appellation has multiple Premier Crus, including Epenots, Argillières, Saussilles, Charmots, Arvelets to the north of Pommard.

To the south, towards Volnay, you'll find among others the Rugiens, Chanlins, Chaponnières, Poutures.

Historically renowned for being a powerful wine (compared to Volnay and its so-called feminine wines), Pommard red wine is actually much more diverse, particularly due to the different geologies between the north and south of the village, as well as exposure. Nevertheless, Pinot Noir expresses itself wonderfully, complemented by each viticulturist who also brings their expertise.

Discover why wine enthusiasts around the world appreciate this exceptional Burgundian appellation: Pommard Wine.
